A bit of history …
Sometime in the mid 1800s, Anna Russell, the 7th Duchess of Bedford, felt a bit peckish in the afternoon, so she decided to ask her staff to prepare a pot of tea and some light food. It quickly became a daily habit and after sharing this occasion with friends, a new social event was born.
Lady Bedford had inadvertently invented the Afternoon Tea!
What is Afternoon Tea?
Afternoon Tea is usually served in the afternoon and consists of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream & jam and small pastries. For drinks, tea, coffee and champagne are traditionally served.
